What is left of Darwin’s evolution theory? 1/4

The successive blows that the Darwinism has been subjected to in recent decades have almost shifted it to a rack of oblivion. Despite all the desperate attempts exerted by the fans of this old classical theory, and despite their hopeless clinging on its worn-out rags and tatters, and despite their ongoing endeavor to beautify its pale face even through forging fossils, or covering up undesirable findings, or by extrapolation as we shall see in this article. However the scientific deadly blows that it underwent in recent decades have almost buried it. It only remained alive in the minds of those who are so intimately possessed by the Darwinism, It is the same for such fans: the scientific evidence and the mental illusion.

So what is the general path of Darwinism drawn by the book of : On the Origin of Species of Charles Darwin, And what are some contradictions in this theory forced up  to be exposed on the surface by these scientific findings?    

In his book: On the origin of species Darwin assumed that the origin of all living species and the descent of all beings is one. He referred to it in different terms: primordial form, one prototype,  …etc ( chapter 14 page 428 and Chapter 6 page157) and through ages, all this wide diversity of life emerged from  this obscure and mysterious primitive being. The fans of this theory often refer to this as a single-celled organm such as amoeba. All birds, fish reptiles,mammals, and other animals descended from this same one-celled organism, man is no acception, for the apparent superficial analogy, he was quick to link him indirectly  to apes, Such as chimpanzee! I say: indirectly because there is what he called:” intermediate” or “transitional form” that fills the gap between ape and man! This vanishing intermediate is what he called” the missing link “ These missing links don't exclusively concern man and his organic relationship with his direct predecessor, but with every other species. The missing links are indeed the most famous absentee, and the clearest truant in this theory. Whenever Darwin’s theory is derailed, came to a deadlocked he hangs his failure on the missing link peg! In other word, he justifies his failure by the absence of missing links. Darwin himself felt concerned about this dilemma that stains his theory, and he admitted it throughout his book. Indeed, he was so concerned about this mysterious disappearance of these missing links, or intermediates, that he saved a special chapter in his book( Chapter 6) to deal with them, entitled: Difficulties on theory. He said:" why, if species have descended from other species by insensibly fine gradations, do we not everywhere see innumerable transitional forms? Why is not all nature in confusion instead of the species being, as we see them, well defined?

This is not the only difficulty, but there is a chapter of difficulties that he himself admitted to have caused him to stagger.

Darwin said:

"…. Some of them(difficulties) are so grave that to this day I can never reflect on them without being staggered.(page 157 chapter 5)

Some of his  justifications to those difficulties are very pale indeed, and they don’t seem to be convincing at all.

Reading Darwin’s book On the Origin of Species one finds out that his reference points are  built upon a postulate idea that  evolution is progressing in an ascending line. From the lowest to the highest, from the less complicated to the most complicated. Darwin was not the first to be tempted by such trend in classification; it has indeed tempted many other ancestors. The most famous in the older world was Aristotle in his book: The history of Animals in which he classified organisms according to their similar characteristics, those with red blood and those without..etc. However, such trend has brought too many inconvenient drawbacks to this theory.

 This theory disdained save being imprisoned through decades in a solitary confinement called: a theory or a hypothesis. Its adherent fans; including some zealous anthropologists were not able to free it and take it out to the vast , free atmosphere of factual reality.

Many serious scientific researchers were able to penetrate the very thick ceiling barrier, almost totally controlled globally by the pro-Darwinism fans. One of these powerful researches made in recent years  was that  of  Dr Michael Denton. A very famous British-Australian author, and physician- biochemist, and a senior Fellow of the Discovery Institute's Center for Science and Culture who dedicated more than 10 years of his life in laboratory studying the very molecular structures of cytochrome  in some of the Darwin’s chain of organisms to discover the level of sophistication in the respiratory cycle that involved enzymes  of very old creatures believed by Darwin to be the ancestors, and forefathers of other numerous kinds of descendant creatures. He found them as sophisticated as the latest alleged offspring. In some cases, he found them to be even more sophisticated in the case of forefathers. His research focus was on the very molecular structure of enzymes and the eucaryotic cytochrome sequences. His research resulted in a very interesting book entitled: Evolution: A Theory in Crisis published 1985.13 years later 1998 he published his equally important book: Nature’s Destiny in which he proved with unshakable scientific proof the falsification of  the randomness accounts for the biology of organisms. Life according to Denton did not exist until initial conditions of the universe were fine tuned. And proved instead the design, and super intelligence that overwhelms life, and universe as whole.

There’re  hundreds of other scientific researches that started to gorge out forward. The latest that I read was a research by a group of Canadian researchers  entitled: New evolutionary research disproves living missing link theories. It proved that:

Genetic research proves worms has evolved to be less sophisticated than their ancestors

Despite the fact that the evolutionists didn't find those mysterious  missing links, and despite all these tremendous flow of scientific findings, evolutionists still insist on their arrogance and try to turn 

blind eye to them.

The whole universe is but darkness, it only illuminates by the manifestation of the truth in it. Whoever saw the universe and didn't see Him in it at it before it or after it, is indeed suffering from the lack of inner light, for the sun of knowledge eclipsed – in him- behind clouds of effect

The pivot of this wisdom is about the idea that the universe or phenomenal being is not self-reliant, but rather an effect of an initiative cause; and a gleam of the one who is the light of the heavens and the earth. Through which He manifests Himself to those who have real knowledge. For our sensing of beauty and the beautification of everything scattered in it is but some traces of what He planted in us. And a seed implanted in the soil of our makeup. Has it not been for this effect implanted in our nature, it would have been the same

for us: the beauty and the beast, the light and darkness.

Him who doesn’t see the total domination of the creator in this world, in the beginning and the end, has indeed being blinded by his adherence to the effect instead of the cause , and being fascinated by images instead of the maker and the bestower of all forms and images. And the sun of knowledge has indeed eclipsed inside him. Because the bases for the knowledge is this unique ability within our nature to distinguish between the right and the wrong;  the just and the unjust. The light, and the darkness. The beneficial, and the harmful. It is the inherited capability of distinguishing between contradictions.

Our natural and physical sciences are all derived from this universe and its various strict laws and principles,  and our  criterions are measured according to the already existed universal laws. Every science that humanity boasts to be excellent in today, had been already there since the very beginning but it was blind to see it for millennia before it started crawling through its high ladder. So, whomever is adherent to this sciences exclusively has indeed saw the effect and was blind to see the cause. One may find great enjoyment in revealing more of hidden laws in this universe but this enjoyment can’t exceed one’s material life span which is horribly short. In fact, this unique enjoyment is badly embittered by the inevitable reminisces of death and annihilation that one can’t help to stop it from flashing out in one’s mind. The real enjoyment is the one that embraced eternity and include it into its equation. You may enjoy seeing corsage of flowers at home, but will enjoy it more when it is bestowed to you as a gift!

We may enjoy looking at starry sky but we shall enjoy it more when knowing that all this beauty

and grandeur has been gifted to us by the creator to enable us understand more about His Excellency and greatness, paving the way for our ultimate happiness granted for those who deeply contemplate in the heaven and the earth

“Verily! In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the alternation of night and day, there are indeed signs for men of understanding. (Al-Imran 3:190)Those who remember Allâh (always, and in prayers) standing, sitting, and lying down on their sides, and think deeply about the creation of the heavens and the earth, (saying): “Our Lord! You have not created (all) this without purpose, glory to You! (Exalted are You above all that they associate with You as partners). Give us salvation from the torment of the Fire. (Al-Imran 3:19

Among the the universal facts and scientific discoveries that the Holy Quran clearly mentioned was the expansion of the universe. And its instability since its existence. The Holy Quran say in the chapter Athaariaat :”

“AND IT IS We who have built the universe with [Our creative] power; and, verily, it is We who are steadily expanding it.” Translation Muhammed Assad

“  With power and skill did We construct the Firmament: for it is We Who create the vastness of space”

What does this Aya verbaly means in Arabic language? and how should it be translated, I say this because I see Lack of preciseness   in some translations, the original Arabic text speaks clearly about the following unavoidable facts,1 the sky or space 2 constructing or building up 3 power involved in such “operation”4 thecontinuous  expansion. Nobody who has any knowledge of Arabic language would miss these basic words in this Aya. Now do all the Quran translations reflect these basic information in this Aya the answer is no! because of the fact that many of the Holy Quran translators translate the meaning that they understand from the text, hence when they are confronted with certain Ayats that speak about facts that they never heard of, or they are beyond their concept and imagination, they will try to find a logical explanation. In other words, If the translator of the Holy Quran has no idea about the discovery of the expansion of the universe, he or she wouldn’t see it in the tex, even if it was crystal clear! Simply, because their mind is completely occupied with other totally different concept.  or imagination. This attitude even happens to our more  stern and keen means of observation such as our senses  . When one’s mind is totally preoccupied with certain things, his eyes may fail to see clear objects or persons. same thing could be said about many Ayats of the Quran. That is why it is very important to reflect the verbal meanings of the actual words and verbs in the Holy Quran. And for those who are expecting from the Quran to mention the latest discoveries in clear and unshakable meanings I say such thing is contrary to the nature of things and also to the message of the Quran, because the Holy Quran is not a science text book, it is rather a guidance for the people of the world, and those scientific indications are but signs in the way nothing more. Because those same discoveries had them been explain in details by the time of the revelation they would had been the mean obstacles in the way of people to believe. For example who would believe in the time of the revelation that we don’t actually  see stars but only their light! And we only see their places that they were in some time ago! it could be a thousand years ago! If billions of people even today had no idea of this thing how would  anybody believe in such discovery 1400 years ago?! That could have been a deadly overdose for those people, the science accumulation is built up step by step, and it grows with the add-delete system. So, we should not blame the Holy text of the Quran for the limited understanding of the translators of certain scientific phenomenon. Or even the Arab and Muslim commentators, for the Quran translations and comments  reflect very often the limited knowledge of these explanations more certainly than reflecting the vastness  of the Holy Quranic horizons . However , many of the Quranic scientific insinuations and hints are so clear that place the contemplator of its original text on the cliff of a premature discoveries. Such lucidity and clarity in Quranic text show the explanation of old commentators as if they were aware of the recent discoveries of the modern times! Here is an example from a prominent  13th century commentator  named Ibnu Kather on his commenting on the following Aya: “ 

  . وَالسَّمَاء بَنَيْنَاهَا بِأَيْدٍ وَإِنَّا لَمُوسِعُونَ 

With the power and skill did We construct the Firmament: for it is We Who create the vastness of Space.

Allah most Exalted , drawing attention to his creation to the above and below worlds, says that He built the sky by making it a protected firmament with absolute power, and We are expanding it : means: We expanded its sides and horizons and we exalted it without pillars till it became like you see it.”

 Although this comments of his does not seem to contradict the present scientific  perspective of the universe as we describe it today, but we can clearly notice  that he couldn’t escape from his personal concept of the universe of the time, such deficient concept  resorted him to jump over a very important fact in the text. Which is the unusual shifting from the past tense course to the present continuous course: expanding, broadening, widening! In the same unremitting context?

His motive is justifiable, for the scientific discoveries of the time wasn’t going along with the Holly Quran prophesies and facts. And it was almost impossible for anyone to exceed his time and declare the discovery of the expansion of the universe.

Such Quranic fact remained concealed for centuries till the modern scientific discoveries unveiled it.      

How did the story of expansion of the universe started?

The first sign and indication of this  discovery belongs to the Austrian scientist Doppler who noticed that sounds seeme to be of higher pitch when the listener and the source of the sound were approaching and coming close to each other, and of lower pitch when they are moving away from one  other. In other words, he observed that the sound vibrations and waves emitted from a fast train, reach the listener -in a static position- in a accumulative sequence shape , it increases till it reaches its pick  at the equivalent site with the observer. As soon as the train starts to leave this particular position, those same sound vibrations altered from strength to weakness. Eventually, he noticed in his later researches that the light waves surprisingly act in similar manner. When light waves are   zooming toward you, their  light waves squeezed together. You see these light waves as having a higher frequency than normal. And you see them blue. Since blue is at the high-frequency end of the visible spectrum,

Contrary to this phenomenon is when light is zooming away from the observer, you see these waves as having a lower frequency, and you see them red , in other words, the more squeezed light waves are, the more they look blue, and the more stretched they are, the more they look red .

In this way, a new mechanism to measure the remote distances in the universe emerged. And Doppler was able to conclude that most of  galaxies  are moving away from us.

Later on Slipher came to reassure the same outcome, and by 1925 he could observe 40 galaxies zooming away from each other. Then were followed by the prominent American physician Edwin Hubble1929 who confirmed that the velocity of galaxies away from each other and from our galaxy ( the milky way) is equivalent to their distances from us. In other words, the more distanced the galaxies are away from us , the faster they are moving away. In 1934, and together with his colleague Milton Hummason in Wilson mountain telescope in California, they published their discovery. Hubble was the first to discover that the expansion of the universe is accelerating. i.e. Its velocity is not in steady pace but alters in accordance with time and place. Hence, it is one of the greatest manifestations of Quranic miracles is to find clear indication of such discovery in the Holly Quran. In fact, one is astonished as he put some Ayats that describe the time of the creation of the universe and its following stages together. and then compare them to the scientific achievement in this regard to find out a total match and perfection, despite the fact that the way this universe came to being from nonentity remains folded in the prescience, no man can imagine its reality. However, he can conclude it because there is simply no other possibility.

Most of verses that tackled and mentioned Jihad have clearly stated its motives and reasons or implied them within the context. Have the Holy Quran mentioned those motives one time it would have been more than enough to confirm its characteristic and its merit as a major promoter of  peace in the world

Jihad has nothing to do with “ war” as it has been known to man throughout the history

The West has for instance, launched most of its notorious wars during its ill-famed and disreputable long colonial history for satisfying its devouring hunger. Millions of poor and feeble people had to die in Africa Asia and Latin America for the unholy reason of satisfying the West ever-hungry greed. Jihad has nothing to do with such wars. Its cause is much different than these greedy wars

 I know that there are many tendentious and counterfeiters of reality out there who are taking the advantage of the  modern cyber communication and work night and day in spreading lies and misinformation about Islam through repulsive and loathsome means. Their strategy, however, is stupidly masked behind silly generalization. A lot of  miserable anti-Islam websites premeditatedly snatch pieces of Quranic texts away from this chapter and that, and disentangle them from their necessary contexts, and rash to add to them the forged meanings that they mislead people with.

Some of them would, for instance, take some horrible photos of dead people taking fromsome Hotbeds of tension and war zones in the Islamic world and try to paint Islam and Muslims with that and deliberately accuse Islam as a whole of Barbarism!!

It is very often for instance, to find some scheming people spreading some barbaric bloody religious celebrations of the shiat cult and try to stain Islam with it, while everybody knows that those barbaric and shameful and satanic acts have nothing to do  with Islam nor with the vast majority of Muslims in the world. Shiats are a tiny sect compared to Muslims and most of them had deviated from the true Islam.

  Such propaganda, however, can only fool the most gullible and simple-minded people, that we probably think that we should not be worried about, but the concern grows when knowing that many people in the west nowadays proved to be manipulated by some anti-Islam controlled media, owned by some political  influential groups .The most efficacious media in the west today, is owned and controlled by certain anti-Islam groups. Nevertheless, If we are to compare between those barbaric acts committed by some ignorant Arabs in some war zones  and what America and Israel or the  western countries in general have committed either in their notorious wars in Palestine, Iraq or Afghanistan, or during the first and second world wars, we will be left short of any ground for comparison. The west alone has killed more than 100 million people-most of them were innocent civilians- in one century alone. Many more millions of innocent and poor people were perished by western colonial countries in previous wars to satisfy their greed from other people natural resources and yet no Muslim would accuse Christianity of Barbarism or the Prophet Jesus peace be with Him of brutality.

Such shameful conduct of those tendentious cunning people is like taking pictures of  innocent people and children killed and mutilated  by American shells and missiles in Iraq or Afghan villages and accuse Christianity as a religion of terror.!!

Jihad is clear of all those claims and it has a very constructive goal and it aims at the good welfare of all humanity had it just been understood properly.

Equally absurd is the claim that Islam was spread at the sword point! Those who spread this outcrying lie stay speechless when confronted with some concert facts in the history such as how did Islam spread in the most populous country in Islamic world Indonesia ? because no Islamic or Arab army known to have reached those islands of Indonesia or Malaysia or many other southern Asia countries. The only Muslims known to have travelled to those remote islands were merchants             

Also, how can little number of Arabs and Muslims who entered many countries in North Africa or mid-Asia for instance be able to force all those masses by which they were far out numbered, to convert to Islam.And stay adherent to Islam

Let us now read what one of the even-handed Westerner historian wrote:

 Misconception: Islam was spread by the sword

Historian De lacey O’Leary states “History makes it clear however, that the legend of fanatical Muslims sweeping through the world and forcing Islam at the point of the sword upon conquered races is one of the most fantastically absurd myths that historians have ever repeated.” There is no record in history that shows people being forced by sword point to convert to Islam. When Islam spread through countries they would set up private churches and synagogues for the non Muslims they were governing and because of the good treatment they had received they themselves would convert. If one considers the small number of Muslims who initially spread Islam to the west all the way from Spain and Morocco and into east from India and China.one would realize that such a small group of people could not force others to be members of a religion against their will. It is also interesting to note that when the Mongols invaded and conquered large portions of the Islamic empire, instead of destroying the religion they adopted it!” Islam at the Crossroads 

The following verses of the Quran highlights the nature of Jihad in Islam

Baqara 190. Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for Allah loveth not transgressors.

246 al Baqara

  246. Hast thou not Turned thy vision to the Chiefs of the Children of Israel after (the time of) Moses? they said to a prophet (That was) among them: "Appoint for us a king, that we May fight in the cause of Allah." He said: "Is it not possible, if ye were commanded to fight, that that ye will not fight?" They said: "How could we refuse to fight in the cause of Allah, seeing that we were turned out of our homes and our families?" but when they were commanded to fight, they turned back, except a small band among them. But Allah Has full knowledge of those who do wrong

195 Al Imran

 And their Lord hath accepted of them, and answered them: "Never will I suffer to be lost the work of any of you, be he male or female: Ye are members, one of another: Those who have left their homes, or been driven out therefrom, or suffered harm in My Cause, or fought or been slain,- verily, I will blot out from them their iniquities, and admit them into Gardens with rivers flowing beneath;- A reward from the presence of Allah, and from His presence is the best of rewards."

75. And why should ye not fight in the cause of Allah and of those who, being weak, are ill-treated (and oppressed)?- Men, women, and children, whose cry is: "Our Lord! Rescue us from this town, whose people are oppressors; and raise for us from thee one who will protect; and raise for us from thee one who will help!"

76hose who believe fight in the cause of Allah, and those who reject Faith Fight in the cause of Evil: o fight ye against the friends of Satan: feeble indeed is the cunning of Satan.

84. Then fight in Allah.s cause - Thou art held responsible only for thyself - and rouse the believers. It may be that Allah will restrain the fury of the Unbelievers; for Allah is the strongest in might and in punishment.

90……. Therefore if they withdraw from you but fight you not, and (instead) send you (Guarantees of) peace, then Allah Hath opened no way for you (to war against them).

91. Others you will find that wish to gain your confidence as well as that of their people: Every time they are sent back to temptation, they succumb thereto: if they withdraw not from you nor give you (guarantees) of peace besides restraining their hands, seize them and slay them wherever ye get them: In their case We have provided you with a clear argument against them

Anfal 39. And fight them on until there is no more tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in Allah altogether and everywhere; but if they cease, verily Allah doth see all that they do

Attawba 12. But if they violate their oaths after their covenant, and taunt you for your Faith,- fight ye the chiefs of Unfaith: for their oaths are nothing to them: that thus they may be restrained

Will ye not fight people who violated their oaths, plotted to expel the Messenger, and took the aggressive by being the first (to assault) you? Do ye fear them? Nay, it is Allah Whom ye should more justly fear, if ye believe!

Fight them, and Allah will punish them by your hands, cover them with shame, help you (to victory) over them, heal the breasts of Believers

36  and fight the Pagans all together as they fight you all together. But know that Allah is with those who restrain themselves

Mohammmed Therefore, when ye meet the Unbelievers (in fight), smite at their necks; At length, when ye have thoroughly subdued them, bind a bond firmly (on them): thereafter (is the time for) either generosity or ransom: Until the war lays down its burdens. Thus (are ye commanded): but if it had been Allah.s Will, He could certainly have exacted retribution from them (Himself); but (He lets you fight) in order to test you, some with others. But those who are slain in the Way of Allah,- He will never let their deeds be lost

Allah forbids you not, with regard to those who fight you not for (your) Faith nor drive you out of your homes, from dealing kindly and justly with them: for Allah loveth those who are just.

Allah only forbids you, with regard to those who fight you for (your) Faith, and  drive you out of your homes, and support (others) in driving you out, from turning to them (for friendship and protection). It is such as turn to them (in these circumstances), that do wrong

The highlighted portions of these Ayats determine the causes and the strong motives behind these Ayats, For this reason many Muslim scholars have came to a conclusion that Jihad in Islam has a defensive nature and absolutely has no offensive nature.For Islam considers killing one soul without a right cause is like killing all humanity, and saving it is like saving the whole humanity

Al Ma’da32

“On that account: We ordained for the Children of Israel that if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people. “

That is why we find those clear cut restrictions in the law of engagement in Jihad

  Do not commit treachery
. Do not deviate from the right path
. Do not mutilate dead bodies
. Do not kill children
. Do not kill women
. Do not kill aged men
. Do not harm or burn trees
. Do not destroy buildings
. Do not destroy an enemy’s flock, unless you use it for your food

When you pass people who have devoted their lives to monastic services leave them alone

The above-mentioned commands repeatedly had been advocated by the Prophet and His successors Such as Abu Bakr Omar Othman and Ali

so, what more misinformation is still there about Jihad.

It is probably not a secret that one of the most famous misconception about Islam is the Jihad, It is not unfamiliar to find people in Western media ranting that Jihad’s goal is to spread Islam, and from this fallacy came the famous propaganda that Islam was spread by sword! And that people converted to Islam on the knife point!!.   This rumour however, easily vanishes and rapidly evaporates as soon as it is exposed to the reality beams!

Those misled people don’t know that the Holy Quran made it crystal clear that:

“Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things.

Al Baqara 256 translation Yusuf Ali   

So, Let us ask this direct question: what is Jihad in Islam?                                             Jihad literally means struggle, working hard, do one’s best, to endeavour, to strive, to fight in a legitimate cause.These are some of synonyms of Jihad, they have been all used in the Holy Quran. For example: In Surat Loqman Quran says:                 Now [among the best of righteous deeds which] We have enjoined upon man [is] goodness towards his parents; yet [even so,] should they endeavour to make thee ascribe divinity, side by side with Me, to something which thy mind cannot accept [as divine], obey then, not: [for] it is unto Me that you all must return, whereupon I shall make you [truly] understand [the right and wrong of] all that you were doing [in life].Muhammed Assad 

  We have enjoined on man kindness to parents: but if they (either of them) strive (to force)thee to join with Me (in worship) anything of which thou hast no knowledge, obey them not. Ye have (all) to return to me, and I will tell you (the truth) of all that ye did. Yusuf Ali

  We have instructed man to honour his parents, but if they endeavour to make you associate with Me something about which you have no knowledge, do not obey them. It is to Me you will return and I will inform you about the things you did.  Aish Bewely.                    "[Revere thy parents;] yet should they endeavour to make thee ascribe divinity, side by side with Me, to something which thy mind cannot accept [as divine], obey them not; but [even then] bear them company in this world’s life with kindness, and follow the path of those who turn towards Me. In the end, unto Me you all must return; and thereupon I shall make you [truly] understand all that you were doing [in life")   Mohammed Assad.                         "But if they strive to make thee join in worship with Me things of which thou hast no knowledge, obey them not; yet bear them company in this life with justice (and consideration.                                                                          "But if they try to make you associate something with Me about which you have no knowledge, do not obey them. Keep company with them correctly and courteously in this world Yusuf Ali

From the above-mentioned translations we find out that the Holy Quran used the same source of the word Jihad to mean : to strive to struggle.to try hardly,  Now we know that Jihad is a neutral word that could mean fight and same time mean other meaning as I stated earlier

Some mainly western writers however, translated Jihaad as a Holy war! This is a big fallacy. There is no such concept as holy war in Islam at all. A war as it is known to humans can’t be considered holy in Islam

The most uses of Jihad in the Holy Quran was for fighting the Muslim’s various enemies; mostly pagans of the Arabia, Byzantines who used to  occupy the western part of Arabia and Palestine who mobilized themselves to eradicate the Deen of Islam in the Arabia after the ¨ Prophet Mohammed PBUH asked them to answer the call of Islam and enter in peace, They amassed in their tens of thousands and decided to conquer the whole Arabia has not the Prophet aborted their plans and nipped it in the bud. And the Persian invaders who killed the Prophet’s messenger  who carried the peaceful message to them. And to fight any tyrant who is persecuting and oppressing innocent people

So, al Jihad is mainly to defend Islam and Muslim against all those deadly enemies who wasted no chance trying to uproot it.                                                                              We can more conveniently decide that Jihad is a defensive war in the broader scale of defence. To understand fully the position of Jihad inside Islam one has to first to have a hint of  what Islam is all about.Not meaning  of course to fulfil the answer to this essential question

The word Islam came from the Asslama which means submit. therefore Islam means submission to God rules and laws. Not only on the ethical level, but on all other various aspects and levels of life. For Islam is a comprehensive religion, that aims at organizing and guiding  human life on all levels. Islam came to afford guidance in every aspect of human life. This is very clear  in Islamic legislations and in the conduct of the Prophet Mohammed.     The Holy Quran said:                                                               “ We sent aforetime our apostles with Clear Signs and sent down with them the Book and the Balance (of Right and Wrong), that men may stand forth in justice”al Hadid 25Translation Yusuf Ali

We sent Our Messengers with the Clear Signs and sent down the Book and the Balance with them so that mankind might establish justice. Aicha Bewely

This is an essencial declaration that sums up the final objective  of all Allah’s messages concluded and sealed  with Islam.:” …), that men may stand forth in justice. and establishjustice and equity . Because it won’t do good for humanity to believe in a religion merely on the ethical and moral level, and then indulge in various secular and  none-religious or  laic activities implemented and imposed  by a secular state. That would totally contradict the very basis of that religion and undermine its message. In such case, religion would have no real or fundamental effect on human life. And hence, humanity will continue to tumble down in misguidance, and this is not the case with Islam. Islam interferes in every aspect of life, let it be economical, social, marital , martial, political or whatever. The basic teachings and legislations of  all these is in the Holy Quran and thousands of authentic Hadiths of the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) gathered in many Hadith encyclopedias. Islam came with both Aqida and Sharia . Aqida means creed and beliefs, while Sharia is a set of laws and legislations that govern the individual relations within the community and state, and also govern the nation as a whole in its relation with its rulers, and the rulers relations with other nations in the glob. All these are discussed abundantly in thousands of jurisprudence books. The Islamic Fiqh is spectacularly   all-inclusive that it is almost impossible to come up with any legal situation or any case, no matter  how complicated it might be , without finding the basis of its solution in it. Among these laws and legislations came the principles of al Jihad. It is absolutely not a Vague concept or an undefined task ready to be adopted by any Muslim at any given time! It is rather a very restrictive and a well-defined and completely surrounded by heavy conditions far superior than any warfare  laws known to man even in the 21^stcentury

Al Jihaad can only be considered legal when a legitimate and responsible Islamic state declared it, and urged its people to join its rows as part of its effort to defend the nation territory or to help in stopping blatantly aggression and injustice. No one has the right to fight in the name of Jihad without the permission of the head of the Islamic state, except when the enemy raided the Muslim country territory and occupied it, in this case, no permission is necessary to launch a repulse. That is why invaders of Muslim land are facing an unavoidable defeat in both Iraq and Afghanistan because a lot of fighters feel free of any permission from their countries, and they will continue to flow through boarders to these occupied Muslim countries 

Among the essential and necessary tasks of  Jihad is meant to end hostilities and Fitna or chaos,  and force law and order. The Holy Quran says

“And fight them on until there is no more Tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in Allah. but if they cease, Let there be no hostility except to those who practise oppression

And fight against them until there is no more oppression and all worship is devoted to God alone. And if they desist-behold, God sees all that they do. M Assad
“ And why should ye not fight in the cause of Allah and of those who, being weak, are ill-treated (and oppressed)?- Men, women, and children, whose cry is: "Our Lord! Rescue us from this town, whose people are oppressors; and raise for us from thee one who will protect; and raise for us from thee one who will help.Chapter Annissa 75 

So, Jihad is not a substitute for war, Jihad is to exert one’s utmost effort in  promoting a cause. A just one.  All those barbaric acts of violent groups who indulged themselves in an indiscriminate  terrorists attacks in open public places such as markets, underground stations and Mosques in Iraq and in Pakistan, civilian aeroplanes  had no link to Jihad in Islam  and those who commit those heinous crimes are violating the most basic rules  of Islam. Bombing worshiping places is an atrocity that undermines the basics of Jihad in Islam which states that churches ,synagogues and monasteries and other worship places shouldn’t be attacked. Those violent groups who attack churches and even Mosques of other sects and groups  have indeed hijacked Islam and offered an excellent service to the deadly enemies of Islam by such coward acts either against innocent civilians in the west or even against innocent civilians in Islamic countries. "Those who would hinder (men) from the path of Allah and would seek in it something crooked: they were those who denied the Hereafter."
And those who commit those crimes against innocent people are in deed doing just that and they can’t be true believers in the judgment Day even if they claim to do so because their crimes disclaim their parole
